We have a spare mat and a mat-stat, if we put this in instead of the bulb where is the best place to put the mat? The corn is in a 2ft viv at the moment.
It had like wood shaving bedding which we have outted and put in newspaper.

If we put the mat in could we then put in a really small energy saving bulb for daytime light?

Many thanks for all the advice so far and we will get pics on asap...

You certinaly could with the bulb! The mat is meant to fill 1/3 of the tank. I keep all my mats on the right side of the tank.

Also, was it Aspen? Best substrate for them! I use aspen and they love to burrow in it.

Does the heat mat go on the floor or the side of the viv?

Not sure what the substrate was so took it out till we got some aspen tomorrow.

If it's a wooden viv, fit it to the bottom of the inside, layer it with newspaper then your substrate. To avoid the little guys burning on the actual mat.

Good to see you guys taking so much interest in there care to get everything 100% correct. Don't really see people doing this sadly.

agree with what has been said - don't have a light on all day and night though - if it is for heat or not - all animals need to know the difference between night and day.
Good luck with your snake - this time next year you'll have a house full trust me!!

Do go and read other care sheets and take on other words of wisdom before you listen only to the advice you have been given. I am only saying this from experience and i am sure many would agree.
For instance, I have my corn in a wooden vivarium, 3ft, lots of hides, on an infared heat bulb, (dimming thermostat) etc. I listened to my local rep store, but also read and researched and decided what was best.
