Ok some of you may hav seen piccies of the lil hoggie baby I hav taken on who is nearly 6 weeks old but still not fed....well I was wondering how long you would leave between trying to feed as obviously I dont want to stress the lil guy out, but I dont want him starving either.

squeese the head off the pinkie, so liquid comes out of the mouth, and put his little nose in the mouth oth the pinkie, while holind him at the neck. Pisses them off into biting, and 9/10 times they will realise "thats food in my mouth!!" Hey presto, feeding hoggie.

otherwise, put him in a waxworm tub, overnight with about 3 pinks, they usually will eat one or more of them, because they cannot get more than 1cm away, in a crix tub they will curl up down the other end.

as for how often, at that age i would try weekly. if he doesnt start soon i would concider assist, which IMO is extreamly easy in hoggies.

Is he western/southern/easter/tri?

He is a western...we hav already tried the puttin pinkie guts in2 his mouth Yest...and altho he did seem to almost suck on the pinkie and take all the gory bits he spat the skin back out!!

Ill defo try him in the waxworm tub a week from Yest as that was our last attempt.

Hoggy is quite unique creature.
I am not sure if you believe or not, they sometimes prefer rotten meal rather than fresh one.
The "Rotten" means a pinky which you put a pinky at the warm spot in the hoggy`s enclosure for a night.
The pinky getting bad with some odour and hoggy love it.
They (including Western Hoggy)eat frog, as well. If you cannot get frog, serve the rotten mouse. Rotten pinky gets some sticky juice on the skin looks like frog.
But your little hoggy might still not want to eat until another few weeks.
It is too small to eat a whole ss-pinky for a new-born hoggy.
You might have to chop a pinky and feed the parts to him.
