Or, tie the rat to the end of a broom handle and you'll be miles away!

I have had exactly the same experience with my royals. They 'see' heat much better than they can see the rat, so your hand cops it.

I leave mine on a heatmat for 5mins then hairdry it. They nail it immediately when it's hot.

Before I gave up smoking tobacco I had a few 'near misses' where regius and Morelia had gone for the rollie hanging out of my mouth instead of the rodent. This was feeding fresh killed items too so I understand exactly what you are saying!!

I find it gets worse as you work your way down / along the racks of tubs. The Snakes not only smell the food but get the vibrations of the other tubs being pulled out as well so alerting them that it's feeding time. I've literally fallen backwards onto my butt to avoid a regius that has launched itself out of the tub poker straight with its gob wide open at me.

OP may I suggest you get some plastic fly swats and try to condition the snakes to / with them. I find them indispensable and have all the snakes used to when the fly swat is pressed onto their heads it's 'back off time'. However this isn't infallible but it works with most of mine. It also depends on how hungry they are too!!

I'm sure you don't really want the Lady to have a gender change Joel

I don't get bitten by the Morelia very often but the female bredls' did snag me last week. She'd been shown the swat, got out of the viv, no problem. Shown the swat again and picked up from the tub, no problem. Half way back into the viv she turned and struck. She only tagged the end of my finger as I pulled my hand away but she left me a present of 2 and a bit teeth as a reminder.

They'll work their way out eventually and I managed to slash the other side with Stanley on Sunday....Doh.

You got a lot more teeth marks than I did!! Do you have any 'presents' left for you ??

BTW my older Sis dated Clit Richards a couple of times. They both went to the Cheshunt Boys Club / Youth Club. (Useless bit of trivia).

Doesn't look too bad, what's worse the the teeth sinking in or the amount of force behind the bite?
