Default Nearly lost a finger

OMG thank god for gardening gloves. Went to feed my royals and my male almost got hold of my finger. Seriously hate feeding in rubs as even with lid barely open they can still get at you. 3 times he struck out at me despite the fact the food was in the rub. Oh well maybe next time he will succeed. Luckily my female royal isnt so feisty but she was just as hungry.

I do have some kind of tongs however they obviously arent long enough and find it awkward to hold the food in them.

I'm a woman so a complete wuss when it comes to being bitten I'd sooner give birth with no painrelief again than risk being bitten by a snake.

Lol I got tagged by my 3ft royal yesterday, he was just going into shed and the poor blighter didn't know what was going on.Drew blood but only felt tingly...Nothing to be worried about.
Got bitten by my adult male CWD once - that's the only bite that has actually hurt.
You can get huge tongs...2ft if you need.

I find that if I feed the prey at room temp the royals dont seem to "see" it and go for my hands instead, so I just run the hot tap, with the head underneath, and a few moves to get the body underneath for a second or two - then hey presto they go for the prey and not me!!
