allot of people dont use hides for large snakes (depending on size and security of the enclosure)

but if u were to use 1 i suppose a big cardboard box is an option

believe it or not i used to use half a beer keg for my boa, it was kinda haevy and it bugged me to keep lifting it out so i thught of a better way.

I went and bought a cheap dustbin from wilkinsons and cut it down the middle, thus making myself 2 hides that were light and easy to clean. They are great for retaining heat aswel, I used to mist inside them and they would be nice and humid for when she was in there which is mst of the time

heres a pic of the ol' keg that she was never out of

my biggest adult boa can still fit herself in a medium upturned dogs basket so use those for boas

but for burms I just black out 2 ft of the viv glass at 1 end with a stick on sheet of plastic (or as blue peter use to say "sticky back plastic")

My Female boa Pepper, used to have hides till she became really snappy, and unusualy agressive, A member on here told me to remove her hides, so I did thext day she was her normal self, so she has no hides now. maybe when shes in her 6x2x2 I'll give her hides back, and see how she is.

Upside down dog baskets. The big boa in college had a 2 foot viv as a hide, which it could just about fit in

i use a blue 33ltr rub for my biggest snake..(coastal) it cost £4 from wilkies..(hole cut in the side)
plus i can just lift her out when i need to clean or water change.. also when in shed i just spray the inside and it holds humidity well...
