Default royal python in blue (humidity)

i got a moss hide at the cooler end and a bowl of water on the hotspot. and i have misted it twice. theres lots of holes on the tub so i have put a towel on top to cover some of the holes to keep the humidity in the tub.

the humidity is 60 - 62% and i wont to bump it up just that little bit more but the humidity just wont go up that little bit more to 65% any idears what i can do. my snake has had two bad sheds so i need to bump it just that little bit more to see if he sheds ok then i will make the humidity 55% again after shed.

NEVER trust dial humidity gauges!!

we used one and compared it against our digital one. the dial read 70%, and the digital 94% humidity.

get digital stuff

but personally i think you are worrying over nothing. royals can have bad sheds so don't worry, even in the best of "literature" conditions. You certainly will NEVER want high humidity, because this is far worse. If you think i am lying? i've owned royals for 7 years now, and guess how much i concentrate on humidity? VERY little.

you're humidity readngs are perfect by the way. I believe if you have a royal feeding they always shed easily. if they don't shed properly, don't worry! all you got to do is put them in a nice warm water bowl... recently we just leave them overnight in a tub, with one end heated to approx 90F. the skin falls the next morning, it's piss easy and less stressful on the snake by pulling the skin off. We also put an upsides down water bowl, or something in the tub (1/2 their body girth) of water, so they can rest their head on, if they need to.

EDIT (and other areas needed edited): links to some good gauges...

gauge for basking, and ambient temps

gauge for humidity/ambient temperature (you'd be amazed the difference between this and a dial), accuracy...

BUMP...

easy ways to help your royal python shed : i think i have edited enough... does anyone else want to elaborate? only other thing i can think of is adding sphagnum moss (occasionally, preferably during shed, which you have already done)

wow thanks for the information and letting me know im doin it ok. thanks
what is that picture (id name royal python) is that some ones finger in the snakes mouth and has it constricted the persons hand? if so how did that happen at feeding time? does it hurt when a royal pythons bites? and how big are there teeth little , big , or are they fang shaped?

oh yeah the humidity is ok now i just covered some more holes and misted it for only when he is in blue till hes shed. then i return it back to 55% thanks every one.
