He needs a heat source (either a mat or a lamp, if he's in a small cage, not both) and a way to make sure that he doesn't get too hot.

If he's in a tank or plastic Faunarium, I would suggest a small heat mat (half the size of the tank) at one end, plugged into a Mat Stat - the Mat Stat probe goes into the tank as close to the heat as Sid can get to it, so that he doesn't get too warm.

hi sam it is very important you have heat mat.... and its very important you buy something called mat stat... the mat stat wil regulate the heat of the mat.... similar to when we turn our heating up and down in our own houses usuing the thermostats...

if you dont have a mat stat the mat can get TOO hot for the snake

reptiles cannot regulate their body temps liek we can.. they need to go to a hot place to warm up and digest food... and a cool place when they get to warm..

thats the simplest way to explain...

you should have a hide at the warm and cool end so it feels asfe at both ends... and small water bowl with fresh water every day or every second day

feed your baby corn every 5 days a pinkie mouse

then when its ready you should move it up to a fuzzy ( a size up from the tiny mice)

there are different feeding charts to show at what weight it is a good idea to begin to move the snake up to larger mice

one is called The Munson Plan but everyonehas different ideas about feeding

The Munson Plan (Sample Feeding Chart)
-When they're on single pinks (2-3g), I feed every 4-5 days. (Snake = 4-15g)
-Double pinks (3g x 2) every 4-5 days. (Snake = 16-23g)
-Small fuzzies (5-7g) every 5-6 days. (Snake = 24-30g)
-Regular fuzzies (7-9g) every 5-6 days (Snake = 30-50g)
-Hoppers (9-12g) every 5-6 days (Snake = 51-90g)
-Weaned (14-20g) every 7 days (Snake = 91-170g)
-Adult (24-30g) every 7-x days (Snake = 170+)
-Jumbo Adults (40-50g) every 7-x days (Snake = 400g+)

Note: Adult females are fed more frequently than adult males (especially following brumation). Females are fed every 6-8 days; males are fed every 7-14 days.

good luck and ask any more questions you feel you need...

but pls get a heat mat ASAP or your corn could get unwell from being cold xxxxx

hmmm

i dont use lamps at all with my corns..

a nice heat mat under their plastic or glass tank is fine ...

as long as its on a temperature control...

you would be betetr doing that.. that way they can hide once they have eaten and use the warmth of the heat mat to help them digest their food in their tummies... if that makes sense

we were recently given a horrifically obese corn that never had access to a heat mat... but had a bulb..

its 3 times the weight it should be...

heres a nice little simple care sheet posted on rfuk with pics to match.... i hope that helps xxxxx

the mat stat probe is a little probe at the end of the mat stat that goes onto the heat mat... or in the plastic tub... this takes the temp reading and turns the mat up and down to regulate the snakes warm end temps

habistat.net

you should find all the info on stats and mats on their. The cheapest stat is the matstat n although i dont use them a lot of people swear by them so they must be fine. either try ur local shop where u got sid from or i find ebay is a good plac to get them.

to the forums n congrats on gettin the snake.

I can tell you from very sad experience that a lamp just over the tank probably won't be enough warmth for him to digest his food.

What exact equipment do you have for him? That way we can suggest ways to improve things for you
