I think if it was me and a first time snake (as it appears from your sig it would be your first snake) I'd go for a royal, our first was a royal and they tend to be docile and easily handleable. I never had problems (so far) with her fasting - she was CBB it's supposed to make a difference. I have boas as well (inc. the smaller crawl cay) now and a JCP - you won't stop at just one snake anyway

boa's and royals are both great. I'll take preference over the royal's, but i would I'm just fanatical about them, so you'll only get a biased response from me.

I have both royals and boas and I honestly couldn't tell you which I prefer. Yes I have a problem feeding 1 of my royals but he was WC but the others all feed with no problems. They are cute, friendly and easy to handle. As for boas they are easy to feed and friendly. My largest is a 6' adult male who is a real sweetie, the smallest is my El Salvador who is currently 2' and will probably grow to 3' possibly 4'.

If I were you I'd buy 1 of each!!!
