Default boa vs royal

these are both two lovely snakes one of which will be the next on the agenda to get.

but which one?

royals grow a lot smaller which is better, but however you always hear horror storys of them not eating when older (all reptile shops agree that i have asked and thus dont stock them)

a boa is also a lovely snake, but they can grow very large (large enough for my fiancee not to want one!!)

Whats all you guys and gals opinions????

Thanks

If you like the boas but are concerned about size have you considered a crawl cay or hogg island boa? Both beautiful snakes, but a much more manageable size (4-6ft)

Boas are far better snakes IMO, but if the size is an issue; get a crawl cay, hogg island or a sand boa.

I'm on the other side,
ROYAL
They have a bad reputation for eating and its always the same reply when someone asks, "they're bad eaters"
If you can get, and it shouldn't be hard, a Guaranteed CB feeding royal that you can see feed before you buy and its kept at the right requirements you should have no problems.
Royals can and do have seasonal fasts, but this is completly normal for royals and so long as you dont stress about it and the snake is not losing weight and is otherwise healthy you have no real need to worry.

I agree Royals are great Boas can get huge and hard to handle when they are that big i know ours were 8 ft easy and bloody heavy although they fed great struck in mid air and are great to watch
Royals on the other hand are very placid well they are good enough for the kids to handle we havent had a problem with our yearling well she is a bit older than that now and haven never had a problem with our big blind female we did have a prob with our other one but he just wasnt hungry and we put him in a tub with the mouse covered over and bang gone in 5 mins lol he now strike feeds with out fail

Guess that wasnt a lot of help lol

I've not had either, but i've held a few Royals and i don't find them all that interesting. I think i'd be tempted to go for a Boa, maybe a Crawl Cay or a Hogg Island!!!

Both brilliant snakes whatever one you choose!!
