Default Corn Snakes: You're thoughts please...

Ok, so!

At the moment I have 3 (all females) 07 hatchlings, 2 are in one of those exo terra founariums (both feeding great). And 1 that still isn't eating right (working on it!) which is in a live food container. I'm thinking ahead a little bit here, but I want to be prepared and get all of the vivs ready so its not one big hit on the pocket in a years time.

I don't have alot of space, so ideally need to keep the snakes in pairs, I know this isn't ideal, but I know it can be done. I was thinking of having 2 x 3ft vivariums, keeping 2 together (the 2 that are currently together) and the current none feeder in a viv maybe with a male in a few years time. I know I will have to take the male out at certain times of the year, But it doesn't need to be in a fancy viv, a large plasic container with plenty of air holes and a heat mat and stat is just as good as a viv.

If I come to breed them, how would you do it? Would you put the male in with the 2 females, or would you put them in a viv on there own? Ideally I need to keep it to 2 vivs, but could go to 3 at a push.

Your thoughts and opinions, how would you keep 3 girls and a boy?

Don't be too harsh! *hides*

Thanks for your time

Daniel

the main problem is. Unless they are proven female..as in have laid eggs.i'd never put them together. theres a risk that one or more could still be male. And thus could breed with the female prematurely causing all manner of problems.

Also I wouldn't keep the non feeder with another snake. The snake needs to feel secure and have perfect temps etc..and u need to get it established eating before u consider putting it with anything. And a male would be a no no for me. As accidents happen n keeping them apart 'at certain times of year' could still end up with eggs, more likely than not.

Also if one passes questionable faeces, etc and they're kept together how are you to know..unless you saw it pass them. which snake it is that could be ill?

Also feeding can cause problems..scent of mouse still on snake etc when you put them back in together...still in hunting mode..striking at one another..some people combat that by keeping them seperate for an hour tho.

Also females shouldn't be bred until they are at least three years old, three foot in length and 300g...so a long while off for your ones yet.

but if you can't have vivs for each of the ones you've got, my honest and none harsh opinion would be quite simply..don't get anymore
