Default escapee burms

getting an 11 foot female today, just wondering what their like at escaping from vivs, thing being the one she is going in has a bout a foot section at the top of the back which is that hard board stuff screwed into the melamine. I did this as its easier to cut a hole in it for the vents.

Well I've seen an adult male push the back off a viv and slide a whole bank of vivs forward. The guy did nail the viv together though which wasn't the best of ideas. Generally it's the glass they push out. Ideally you'll need to put some wood in front of the runners to stop them doing this.

Well, you buy a viv lock dont you lol. They are strong snakes, and will, if given the chance escape like any snake.

This depends greatly on how the snake was kept previously, for instance I have some rescue Burms that were allowed free run of the owners house ! these snakes are a sod to keep in a viv even the size vivs I have for them (12 ft x 3 ft x 3ft ). These snakes are constantly trying to push their way out.
I personally don't like hard board backs and TBH I think yo may well have a problem. Chip board or wafer board are better alternatives (easy to cut etc.) and although it can rot as long as you replace it every couple of years you should find it more secure.

Dont you have 2 burms? How big re they?

Shop i go into has a burm, maybe 8-10ft, it pushes it s head into the middle, of the glass, were they meet, and fires away, vibrating like mad, and pushing!...lol

I know exactly what you mean, I had a big Borneo Short-Tail that did that, he was in a viv on the floor, but since moving him up a viv, he doesn't do it anymore (unless he notices the lock is missing, in which case he goes for it!)

Perhaps a link to seeing the open floor space from ground level?

I've met one that could push up on the glass and lift it over the bottom runners... A length of wood in front stopped this, and I could still get the glass out by lifting it over the runners on the inside of the viv.

Stiff or not, my one nearly pushed the whole lot out, the runners were just about holding. Friends one did succeed in pushing the runners and glass out also. you're best off adding a trip of wood that just covers the runners for top and bottom of the viv.
