To be honest it still makes you jump the first, second and tenth time you get bit But you do get used to it, and as I said before it's not a very painful experience. Once you've been tagged, you'll know what I mean, it's just the fear of not knowing what it feels like.
Keep with it, I'm sure she'll chill out eventually, and yes! get on with it lol

It also is to do with you coming in 'from above' they may be suffering a bit of 'oh my god its gonna eat me' fear. try putting your hand in as far away from the snake and move along the bottom and gently scoop it up. i managed to pick up my flying snake succesfully this way and she is an absolute mental piece.

Yeh seriously being bitten by your snake is really no big deal.....its never as bad as you think it will be and your confidence will grow with time........

Just go straight in and pick it up...remember be confident .........but do it slowly....at times go in and let it smell you and then back off.....give it time youll be fine

A snake hook is good. I use one to lift the body so I can get my hand underneath. You could also wear a glove. This will give you more confidence to go straight in and pick the snake up, which is a lot less stressful to the snake too. Once out most snake will calm down so you only really need one glove.
I have been bit lots, but still flinch badly. As others have said its the shock of the strike rather than the pain...or the blood.
