where can you get this aubiose stuff from?

Mites can come in on anything. You should treat all substrate/hides or anything else you put into your snakes home. I didn't do this once and ended up with mites coming in with a bag of orchid bark. Remember, not all mites are snake mite yet will still infest the viv in the same way.

well thats why i have always used kitchen roll and newspaper and good practce and in all my years of snake keeping never had a mite!
but receently started using aspen, aint got mites, but was warned of the link of aspen and mites, so how do i treat aspen before putting it in my tank then?

soak it in boiling water or something? im not sure. I used to use aspen for all my snakes but never had an issue with mites, now that i got so many snakes i use newspaper for them all anyway so it doesnt matter

Freeze it over night in a sealed bag then take it out later! that will kill the little beggers!

Use aspen for the corns and carpet pythons, use coconut husk, (think thats the same as coco terra?) for the BRB's. Safe, non toxic and reduces mould, smells etc in a high humidity environment. Don't like newspaper, if it gets wet, my corns or pythons used to end up with ink on them...
