Things are only easy when you know how. Quick but don't surprise them and firm but gentle! That probably doesn't help much!

i didnt think they were very nice to handle at all. i thought they were quite vicious but there is obviously the odd tame one.

ATB's in my experience are not what you'd call viscious, but they do tend to throw one or two shots at you at some point every time you handle them. There are those of course that are dog tame, and those that are phsyco's,but as a general rule, not evil but certainly not corn snakes!

you just got to know how to hold them... it's just how you do it.... i never had a problem.... i don't think one has ever bitten me.... no not an amazon... i've had a few mean ones that i guarntee will bite the average joe sixpack .... let them hold you... don't push their buttons. also many, many are tame as can be... i've got a couple tame emmys... wouldn't bite you if you tried to get them to... they are all individuals... atbs are excellent!!!

most atb's ive seen start trying to bite as soon as looked at lol so i wouldn't say they're handling snakes but most arboreals etc display snakes over handling anyway really.

Its not about a particular snake being vicious - its a feeding responce. These snakes sit in trees grabbing stuff as it flys or walks past - if you happen to have one that has an excellent feeding responce and you flash your hand in front of its face then its going to go for you.

You just need to handle them right.

picking them up is the hard part... you have to just get them... you can't dilly-dally around... that's when you are most likely to get tagged. by big girl got me that way. i wasn't paying attention to here changing water. you have to run the show with tree boas... not be a target... it's hard to explain.
