Unhappy Hi everyone, i need some help with a boa

Hi, ok before i start i need to say that i have no idea what i am doing with snakes..... i have a blue tounged skink, a beardie, and a leopard gecko, i am lizard guy, but i decided to get this snake, because it was dying and i felt really bad for it cuz his old owner didnt treat him very well, and my girlfriend said she would help me with him..... but now we are kinda fighting so she isnt talking to me.....

Ok so here i go, his name is sylvester, he is 20 years old, 8 feet long, skinny as hell, and wont eat his bunnies, he has been at my house for about 11 days now, and i dont know when the last time he ate was, so i am not to sure what i can do to help him, if someone could help me out that would be great thanks to everyone

Do you have any pics? And can you describe his habitat (pics?), temps etc - just gives us a better idea of how he is being kept too?

You could try feeding smaller prety items as sometimes they will take smaller ones rather than larger ones - especially if they haven't eaten in a while.

Has he hads a chance to have a little "quiet time" give him some nice tight hides and let him be for a couple of days, he will be worried about being in a new envioroment.

- pics good idea too

make sure that the rabbits are fully defrosted. some snakes are really fussy so they wont eat things with wet fur and other stupid little things like that

I'd try him on a medium rat, thawed and warmed. If he's thin he probably hasn't eaten for a while so a smaller item will tempt him more. Make sure he gets a good drink too.

Exactly what pauline just said.try him on med/large warm rat.
But if he's that emaciated then you really should get him to a vet mate.
If you post some pics people might be able to help you more.

That is such a great gesture that you had!

Apart from Sylvester being skinny, does he have any other signs that could suggest a disease? Check his mouth, it must look healthy and not have anything looking remotely like cottage cheese. Look out for parasites as well.

Good luck!!!

well done for taking him in but...

i know its a sad thing to say but he may be on his way out, most captive bred snakes tend to have a shorter life span, at 20 years old, sounds to me as he getting to the end, as hes had a good innings.

as others have said offer a smaller food item, also a vet check may be in order.

good luck with him what ever happens.
