My surinam boa 8ft is a nutcase so i normally hook her out of the viv and get her head covered with a towel then work her to the place i need her or if she doesn't react to me opening the viv and is facing the back i just grab her behind the head and place her back end first into a spare viv get head in let go and get hand out fast.

My ATB is psychotic. I use a hook with him. To get him to move I just tap him gently. I have also put his branches close to the glass doors so I have easier access to him. When I open the doors and tap him, he goes in strike pose and moves towards me. Ithen let him climb on the hook and grab his tail.

if i have a snake that is snappy, i put a thick glove in the viv with it. i leave it there for a couple of days then i slowly open the viv and slide my hand into the glove. i then stroke the snake whilst wearing the glove and slowly slip my hand under it to pick it up. i find this works a treat as the snake gets used toi the scent of the glove. after a while i start picking it up without the glove. if it lets you stroke it then you usually can slip your hand under and pick it up

Default Nippy snakes

Hello everyone, I'm new to the forums. I was reading this thread and thought I'd post.

I had a 5.5 ft Cali King before and she was the nippiest snake I ever had. She would bite anything and everything. What I used to do is wear really good gloves, then I would put something in the terrarium to distract her (usually my hand) she would always bite and hold on. Then I would get the rest of her body with my other hand. After she was in my hands she would relax and let go...lol. Then I could hold her, being careful to keep her away from my face. Another thing I used to do is get someone else distract her with a large stick and pick her up that way. Now I have a young Corn Snake who is very skittish. I got him last month so he is not quiet socialized yet. The only time he bit me was when I cornered him (which I didn't mean to do), I learned from that mistake. Now I just get him used to my hands being in his Terrarium, and make sure that he has enough space to run away from me if he wants to.
