Default No more braining!!

Usually when feeding my BRB i brain the mouse and she takes the mouse ever so gently out of my hand, not today!! Usually before i brain the mouse i dip it in hot water and dangle in front of her so she can get a sniff of it, but today when i done that she striked straight away [1st time striking] scared the sh*t out of me!!

lol...simimlar happened to me with one of my more awkward royals...never been a strike feeder and a pain to get to take anything...always brained and eventually she'd take it real gentle...lol she soon started striking and it scared me half to death lol

Without sounding too dense (and putting away a hammer), how do you brain a mouse/rat before feeding it to your snake...

I have visions of wiping my walls down after doing it..

slice the skull with a sharp blade (stanley knifes work fine) - the skull's quite soft on a pinky, so its easy to go through

The 6.5' Coastal I have is a strike feeder and she has a massive strike range, even using 12" feeding tongs I'm terrified feeding her. I end up hiding around the edge of the viv!
