Default Testing out the camera on mantids

Well I should have done this a long time ago, but I got round to it today... Borrowed my brothers camera (its a Cannon EOS Digital Rebel XT) and had a little mess around with it...

This is one of my marbled mantid nymphs:

This is a picture of Ghost #2, which I strongly believe is a male (constantly playing dead, scaring the absolute sh*t out of me !!) He wouldnt eat yesterday, I just thought he was being one of them 'picky' males I keep hearing about, but oh no... he moulted !! Very happy about this, I worry far too much about my ghosts moulting + humidity . Hes now also double the size of #1 and #3 (both believed to be female):

I do like this picture quite a lot, detailed ghost with a faded/ blurry moult in the background :P :

Heres the moult itself:

One question though guys! Do you guys use the flash? Worried about damaging the mantid with it ?

All comments are welcome, even if you think they are all terrible Expect more from me, I quite enjoy photography

Stuart.
