Default Mantid set-up's...

Hi everyone I'm a newb to the invert world and rarely venture out from the lizard or off topic section hehe ....

Well I should hopefully be getting my very first mantid's soon 2 Giant asians and 2 Orchid's

I was just wondering how you keep your's ? I have 4 very large sweet jars at the moment and am thinking of using paper towels as a substrate (I know this doesn't hold much humidity but it's much easier) and obviously some twigs in there to... Oh and mesh on the top ..

Sorry for the long post, basically any pics of your set-ups?

Nat

I keep mine like this:

There's water in the pots that the plant twigs are in but I also spray occasionally, maybe once or twice a week.

No particular kind really, although I try not to pick anything with a strong smell just in case it's a natural insect repellent LOL.

This is how I keep my orchids...

Some of the others....

I'd use vermiculite instead of kitchen towel if I was you. Kitchen towel dries out really quickly in a sweet jar and it shows up all the poo and bits of dead insect, lol. If you use vermiculite it will stay wet for ages and hides all the nasty bits!
