Does anyone know if the DWA list covers the Sicarious genus? Yes I'm after more potent spiders, I've been keeping 20 different species of spiders and tarantulas for over 5 years and want something a little more harsh. The DWA serves a good purpose but it is horribly constructed and priced. All of the common "nasties" are on the list, jesus even types of dogs are on it and scorpions that are fairly safe.
Does anyone know if this genus has avoided it or has the nanny state spread towards things that kill less people than bee stings per decade while alcohol is unlicensed and promoted? Last edited by steveyruss; 23-03-2008 at 03:58 AM. |

Sicarius are south american wandering spiders, similair to Phoenutria sp.
Sicarius are considerably prettier. Im pretty sure Phoenutria has recently been taken from the DWA list (sounds a little crazy to me) so maybe Sicarius joined? not sure

This is what I had emailed to me when they changed the DWA list:
The following animals are no longer listed in the Schedule and so the provisions of the Act no longer apply to them: certain smaller primates (woolly lemurs, tamarins, night (or owl) monkeys, titis and squirrel monkeys), sloths, the North American porcupine, the capybara, crested porcupines; cacomistles, racoons, coatis, olingoes, the little coatimundi, kinkajou, binturong, cat hybrids which are predominantly domestic cat, hyraxes, guanaco, vicuna, emus, sand snakes, mangrove snakes, and the Brazilian wolf spidersThe additions are:Dingo Canis familiaris dingoArgentine Black-headed snake Elapomorphus lemniscatus, South American green racer Philodryas olfersii, Peruvian racer Tachymenis peruviana, Amazon false viper Xenodon severus.Middle eastern thin-tailed scorpion Hemiscorpius sp. I will look for the updated list shortly. |
