they do eat privet. as a kid i used to breed them and sell them to the pet shop for 15p each. how times and prices have changed

they will NOT eat privet !
they will eat bramble
rose
oak
eucalyptus
hawthorn
raspberry,
& a few others.
but unless you know someone who grows stuff out of season in a greenhouse then its bramble or eucalyptus.
im sure if you look hard enough you will find bramble,
or look at peoples gardens & im sure you will spot eucalyptus gunii , its got a white powdery looking bark thats easy to spot.
this is assuming you mean extatostoma tiaratum ?
