Default Greenbottle Blue

Since I moved the heat mat from underneath the tank on the back of the tank , my GBB spends all her time on the back wall (where the heat mat is) or tucked away in her hide (where i cant see her due to an excessive amount of webbing) She never uses the rest of the tank.

Is this going to be the norm now?

pics to follow in this thread!

moe than likely yes. once spiders have picked a spot they like they stick to it. my avic avic does the exact same thing he sits on his little corkbark at the very top of the tank and he has a little webbed up hide just to the side of him.

it could be that your gbb is wanting more heat or it could just be he likes that spot

They grip the heatmat when they're cold.. basically the rest of her tank is cold.. and thats the warmest place she can find...

So would it be better to put the heat mat underneath again? So the whole tank is nice and warm for her?

No.

Buy a higher output heat mat, or place her in a room with a higher ambient temp.

Inverts burrow to escape heat, so if for whatever reason the tank overheats and you have the mat on the side, she will find cooler subby below her, if the tank overheats with the mat underneath, she will cook herself.

Nice setup
