Default Hurt Chilean Rose T - Newbie!

totally brand new to all spiders, infact today was only the 3rd time i ever held one.. spotted a advert in the petshop for someone to rehome a cornsnake so iv gone to collect the snake and the guys also wanting rid of this spider. i dont have a clue and im reluctant but as i watched the guy with it and he drops it an breaks a leg so im like ok ill take them both thinking its better off with me than him! so now iv got Sedrick( I named it ) In a wee glass tank with a cork bark hide thing and nothing else and im frantically reading care sheets trying to find out as much as i can before a trip to the petshop tomorrow morning. the snakes not in the best shape either but i can fix all that easy enough. i was wondering whats the deal with the whole broken leg thing? its like the foot bit the wee bottom section is hanging off and theres wet stuff (probably tarantula guts and blood) peeing out the end what do i do about it? any any clever makeshift ideas for stuff for him would be appreciated too also all the caresheets say soil as substrate but i dont have any of that coir stuff left would sisal moss or beech chips work? i have plenty of them... otherwise i can buy other stuff in the morning.. i really didnt expect him coming home with me too!!

Oh, poor little thing If you can get some coir in the moring that would be great, for now I'd suggest just leaving him with his cork piece and with any luck the bleeding should stop and Sedrick will drop the injured section. Do you have a pic possibly??

well, personally id just try to push a bit of substrate into the wound, tarantula blood does not clot so you need to stem the flow yourself. If you putsomething absorbant on it, hopefully the wound will dry closed to the material. Superglue works too apparently though i havent tried that one

Firstly: well done for rescuing Sedrick! Sounds like an awful place the poor thing came from

He might be cleaning his front legs (they're called pedipalps) if he is he'll probably clean all the other ones once he has finished the front ones.
Either that or he might still be munching the cricket and hes using them to hold it.
The only way you'll know if he has eaten is the cricket will be gone, they suck them completely dry and all thats left is a tiny wee dried up ball that you'll never see against the substrate

Chile rose don't really make webs, he'll probably just do it when hes just caught a cricket (they do a 'happy dance' which involves spinning round and putting webbing down at the same time) or when he is about to moult he'll make a little web mat to lie on.

Yeah you did the right thing taking the manky toilet roll out, could get mouldy and mould is BAD for t's.
Don't worry about him ignoring the bark, chile rose are quite inactive and tend to sit out most of the time rather than hide.
