It can be done but its not a good idea. Spiders get out of the heat by burrowing, when they start to burrow and notice its getting hotter they think they need to burrow further.....until they fry.

Probably your best bet. It may be able to be done with a low wattage bulb and i personally keep some of mine on top of my large viv because it puts out small amounts of heat. If you do just keep an eye on them and the temperature.
