Default Goliaths

Only two goliaths that I am aware, normal and pink footed ( there are goliath pamphobeteus but they are different )

Both are similar in respects of temperament, housing etc

Suggest neither are exactly going to be tame, they do flick hairs excessively and I would suggest handling is out of the question.

As to housing obviously depends upon size, my young ones are in plastic 12 x 10 inch and adults are in 24 x 18 inch plastic trays, humidity kept quite high and they all seem ok

Best of luck

Using common names with inverts doesnt work if you wer going by tarantulas with goliath in the name then youl find a fair few..
Theraphosa is the family that true goliaths come from.
Theraphosa blondi (goliath), Theraphosa apophysis (Pink foot goliath)
These will go very quick at BTS this year.
Generally T blondi get heavier, but both reach near enough the same legspan. Neither are agressive but both are very confident and will lunge at even water dripping near them, which is bloody funny.
IME of 10 individual T apophs out of 5 i raised to maturity i found that they loose they confidence and become very nervous and flighty. Theraphosa blondi is as confident and brash as full adult as it was whilst growing. T blondi make much better display animals, and will happily make a massive bolus of 20+ crickets and keep scrambling more loose crickets in the pile if it can.
Your making me want more, EVEN more
My FAVORITE spiders

The hell is a pink burst? lol whats the scientific name?
i keep mine in 18x 18x 18 exo terra cube enclosures

Theraphosa blondi
(Christ it used to look clean! lol)

My goliath is hopefully brewing a sac, she hid last month and tore up her enclosure to make her hidy wall!

Theraphosa apophysis - She generally hides in the fake roots and bolts it at the slightest disturbance!

Theraphosa apophysis

I agree with C strike, comman names for T's don't really work. I must have seen well over a dozen T's with 'goliath' in the name. Even some T's that don't even get to 8 inch have had the name goliath tagged to it.

L.parahybana are ace spiders. Cant go wrong with them. They do flick hairs like mad though and not shy to bite.

My L.parahybana has only once ever tried to bite me, and it was my fault. She does flicks hairs, but shes not really that aggressive.
Although you do get agressive ones Theyre fairly easy to keep, grow big too.

Hi, I'm also thinking of a big T, and I'm leaning towards Acanthoscurria geniculata (Giant white knee) above T blondi. Any comments on keeping them.
I was impressed to see the pics of the T in the 45cm exo terra, is this big enough for full grown biggies though? Also what heat and lights do you use?
