Exclamation Mini or Monster food??

Hi guys

Ok so we recently bought (rescued) a fire leg from a pet store and i am pretty sure after studying its underside that it is a he.

Now it is only around an 2 inches leg span maybe a little smaller, but every care sheet i have looked at it doesnt state what size food he needs.

The pet store was feeding apparently, on the smallest crickets but another pet store advised us to feed small locust.

I have pics at home i will up load but am currently at work.
Any advice appreciated.

We have the small locusts which are getting big now but hes just not interested in food but this could be as we have only had him a week.

Thanks

size of prey doesntmatter if the spider eats. Generally though i feedthem the biggest items they will eat, that way its easier than chuckiung multiple food items into the enclosure, alot safer too

i guess a good example is:
would you prefer 20g of cumbled cookie, or would you prefer a 20g cookie? i know id have the whole cookie.
Easier to eat.. same principal i spose with inverts.. eitha way, you still get the same amount of cookie none the less, lol

You won't be able to sex the T by looking at its underside. Unless its an adult, you will need to examin an old shed.

You can usually tell by the shed, as long as it is in reasonable condition. Some T's like to trash them or turn them into wallpaper, lol. Sexing a T by the way it looks can only usually be done once they are mature. You can then look for tibial hooks, and general body/leg size and sometimes colour.

Ah good stuff. Its not easy to look at a little dinky spids belly anyway. We'll wait for a shed, it needs to eat first though!!

I say the max size of a food item should be the same size of a spider. Most of my slings pounce food items the same size as them or even bigger and they eat most of it.
