Default Sling water?

Quick question... do any of you give your slings water out of a small container?, or can they survive of getting the water from the moisture from the sides of the tub / tanks??

Just asking as this morning i found my tiny Chile flame drowning in the bottle cap i was using to supply water.. he must have just fell in but luckily i got it out just in time by the look of it...

Thanks

Same as Lee i don't give my slings/small spiders water bowls. I mist the sides and they drink from there.

Cotton wool does nothing but harvest bacteria. A big no no in spiders. Same as sponge. They're better off with just water.

Also, the gel is good for livefoods. My crix and locusts have it, but for spiders it doesn't provide much so imo is a waste of money.

Ah right cool. Thanks for that, so is bacteria a big problem for T's? I'm having no probs with mine and she's big enough to have a shallow water dish so thats good. Just spotted the gel in the rep store and i wondered. Looks like fun to play with and its blue, i know i'd end up eating it as a dare when drunk so didnt buy any. lol.

For my larger spiders i get a pringle tube cap and put some of the cricket water in then spray it so it expands. Small spiders tend to suck the water off the soil/sides.

Whats the point in paying a fiver for a small jar or water gel when they get more water out of putting water just in a dish!? You only end up using more gel as it dries out quicker than they drink it anyway... Plus crickets and phorids lay their eggs in it. Yuk.

I use it for crickets mainly, i keep around about 500/700 at a time. For some reason i find it stops the water drying out as quickly.

In honesty, any container will develop bacterial growth on any surface - that includes the water surface film, sides of container and underneath it.

I do agree that cotton wool is not really worth it however, and anything to promote frequent water changing is a plus imo.
