Default is this possible?

Well i am rather dumb struck when it comes to scorpians and stuff so i thought i'd ask for advice the so called reptile shop is also rather dumb on scorpians him being actually scared of them so he doesnt stock them XD

so anyway back to the point one of the lads eae dropping on my preps for my T said that he had a scopian but he was talking of how he keeps it in a shoe box, i didnt think that was right but it was early in the morning and couldnt be bothered to argue so i asked question's he was saying it was a
emperor scorpian and stuff, i talks of how he has got a heat mat under a piece of polystyrene or sometihng like that, and i already thought it was a odd setup and most possibly shouldnt be done but like i said i wasnt going to argue *walsall lads rather scary, specialy the ones from alumwell :S*

so yush thoughts on that?? obviously if its very much rong for the scorp i'll say something to him.

I personally would think that a shoebox would get a bit moist and disintegrate through time with an emporer... and won't exactly give them any natural light, so certainly isn't perfect...

But at the end of the day, any enclosure that provides adequate space, heat, humidity, ventilation etc. is fine, whether it's made from cardboard, plastic, glass, whatever.

Seems a bit silly to be honest to keep it in a shoebox, bit of a waste of a nice display animal, he'll never see it! And I would worry about ventilation & light myself... so certainly not what I'd call ideal, but I'm not sure how much this would actually damage it long term.

i thought the cardboard would start to fall apart, but he buys new shoes once a week, he's never spoke of misting his scorpian tho :/

i dont tihnk he wanted it for show but just to be able to say he had one to seem "hard" because people rond alumwell are strange like that big but dogs and reps that they dont actually understand, i personally dont understand them

From what i know scorpions don't really need light so as long as its being misted it should be ok. If hes had it for a few years and its doing fine theirs not much to worry about. I would recommend getting him a faunarium with plenty of eco earth though.

The only reason I can think to keep a scorpion in a shoe box rather than a £10 faunarium is if you don't want your parents to find it and want to hide it as something innocent ... and I'm sure there are a few teens out there with spiders / scorpions under their beds in shoeboxes!

well a shoe box is hardly suitable IMO, for the sake of a few quid, you can get a suitable tub in wilkinsons for under £2

I think that may be the reason his mom hates pets any sort so i think he may just be hiding it, know that you suggested the idea hmm..

some people are arrogant and wont bther buying something for anything else but themselves and if they do its orders from the parents to do so, but again i'll suggest that when i go back to school tuesday
