Default Burrowing Spids

Hi all

Just wondering if any of you can enlighten me on the burrowing habits of my K Baboon sling ???

He/She has been digging for weeks, and at last seems happy with his current accommodation.

There are 3-4 openings to the surface and 2 definate & seperate chambers.
Am wondering what these chambers could be for ( feeding, moulting ) ????
as my previous baboons just had a simple tube that was only just big enough for their own bodies.

The whole thing is quite a construction and have been trying to take some pics, unfortunately all I seem to take are lovely close ups of the bottom of his clear tank with no visible view of the tunnels...

If anyone could shed some light on the spids thought process in his construction, much appreciated !!!

Cheers

Chris

They have various chambers, my lividum female does too. I think it's a natural thing as in the wild if someone tries to dig them up they can scarper to the next chamber and hope to be safe kinda thing? Also, gives higher probability of catching food.

Also would imagine its a strong defense against monsoons or heavy rains, having more volume to the tube would result in less chance of it filling up with water. Not confirmed but a fair assumption i think

Hi all

A slight change in my baboons behavior as he has completely sealed himself in and blocked off all access points..

Maybe a moult coming up and he is building up a secure hole ????

Cheers

Thanks for that Becky kind of confirms my thoughts !!!

In all seriousness how long should I leave him/her undisturbed as it is impossible to check on him/her without moving the tank ???? and obviously the critter is happy with where it is Temps/lighting/humidity etc !!!! ( would like to increase humidity to ease with prospective moult but do not want do upset the spid overly ?????

I dont want to miss anything ( Expectant father again), but dont want to FCUK it up also !!!!!

Cheers

Chris

Just tip small amounts of water into the substrate at the opposite end of the burrow to help with humidity Everything else keep the same. King baboons are very slow growing! So a moult could be ages away yet or close.. He'll come back out when he's done or kick the skin out. Moving the tank to check shouldn't be a problem
