The web collapsed and it caught its leg and its rump, on the next moult it broke one of its legs while trying to get out then just keeled over.

All this talk of spids dying is starting to put me off the idea of getting one, how do you cope? Is sudden death one of the reasons people buy so many?

Sorry for your losses everyone. Maybe these animals require more time than I can give.

It seems people are having a bit of an unlucky streak at the moment. Don't let it put you off getting one. They demand virtually no upkeep except food and water so are far less demanding than other animals. I've lost one spider this year but I think I know what happened so I can avoid such things happening again.

Don't let it put you off gettin' one. I managed a year with 125 and never lost one.. it happens to me in spurts though.. i go months without any problems, then about 10 die at once on me! It guts me but i tend to get more determined to make it work the next time. I have about 90 odd spiders at the mo and they're all fine and moulting fine etc

The spider that Lucifus lost in this case was very fragile anyway... probably no part of it was his fault. It just happens. It's nature.

If you want a spider get an older one for your first. Slings are more advanced but are dealable by new owners except for some species. Avics are fragile at the best of times, versicolors are quite hard especially as slings. Dont let it put you off getting a spider, i knew while keeping so many slings at least one would die at some point.

And another mantid down, this one died in a moult. Was fairly humid but still died. Duno what the hell is going on. Down to one mantid + house mates. This is getting quite upsetting. I would think i was doing something monumentally wrong but this only started happening with the weather changes and this house is a lot hotter than most.

Doesn't surprise me then. Chinese are notorious for pegging it... Very fragile lil things.
