i be from the midlands!

This spider was in florida, are they venomous? or rare?

Oh and what kind of web do widows make? because their were a fair few widow type looking spiders around, or were they imposters?!

could well be Laterodectus sp. There are a few species of widow in Florida. L mactans, L geometricus and L bishopi, and probably more.. so it could be.
Generally all Theridids (Comb footed spiders - False widows, widows) produce a loose framework of criss-cross threads in a messy and inspecific pattern


The Argiopes sp. is stunning but its simply called a garden spider over their, im sure speaking to a local and asking would let you know if the bite is significant

Thats a garden spider?!? holy jeebus!

I mean i dont mind spiders and can pick em up but at least in the UK they are a bit smaller, and lacking in the "danger to human" factor

Yeah, but then again, you have to be doing something silly to get bitten by most spiders anyway! I hardly think this would end up in your shoe like the widows can.

lol awesome, sorta reminds me of the aussie huntsman slightly, just a lot lot more colourful


yes, in Oz, you get 7 inch house spiders, lol
