Default Dont...

DONT FEED YOUR BABY MANTIS BLACK CRICKETS
i came home today and found a fat little cricket and no mantis im soo upset my 1st praying mantis and was doing well untill i stayed up my boyfriends over the weekend coz i work in a pub, so i work friday and saturday came home and my sister told me that the cricket ate my mantis, i have had it for two week and it was lovely from being small you could see his head moving and it was cute. my fault i think for leaving the cricket in there for 2 days and black crickets eat anything, and i been offering it brown all week so dont do it, keep to pin head brown crickets.
keep away from black one they are EVIL.
the cricket is in the tub now so im going to shake it and gut load it with greens and watch my Bearded dragon eat the evil cricket lol

Aww, sorry to ehar that.
youl find that with crickets tho
i hate to do it, but i crush the crickets head when im dealing with spiderlings, its gross but they sometimes stay alive for days, but ofcourse the spider is at no harm.. i usually feed them to something else if they survive the night.
As for mantids, wouldnt fruit fly larvae be better? i know i did use crickets with mine years ago tho.

With Mantis nymphs always fed fruit flies as had a ready supply ( I grow Chilli plants in my office )..
But as soon as they are large enough get them onto crix as the growth rate soars and then the crix are not so much of a threat as the nymph/mantid just eat them !!!!
Sounds terrible but if your baby crix dont have their rear legs they are no real threat to the mantid anyway and still move around enough to get the mantid hunting !!! ( Not condoning amputation in anyway shape or form LOL)

Cheers

Chris
