I keep one of my king baboon slings ( About 35mm) in a ferrero rocher box, and even though he has burrowed can always see his location through the base of the box, initially thought that the substrate would not have been deep enough but he has stopped excavating and seems happy as recently moulted eating well etc..

He does come out for a walk at night, never seen him take food down tho. He always seem to ambush it on one of his many burrow entrances day or night. thats a sight to see as substrate flies everywhere LOL he then procedes to take his food deep into his burrow to eat ! saw him the other night throwing out the trash as he left a nice pile of crix legs outside one of his entrances ( dont know why he leaves just the legs ??? )

Am thinking of a new approach with the latest one however and like the idea of putting an upturned glass in the centre of a vase ( Height 12 inches, Diameter 6 inches) and have substrate down the side of the glass and on top so that the burrows will still be visible against the sides of the vase, have heard of somebody doing this with trapdoors and seemed to be successful ( would welcome any thoughts tho ). Obviously this would only be for a few years and would look at something different as his size increased.

Cheers

Chris

Hey Chris, it was great to meet you (and your posh car).
I hope your real car gets fixed soon.
Glad your spiders were OK. Sounds like an interesting idea with the upturned glass and vase etc.

Dawn

Hi all

My new C. Crawshayi came out for a walk and a look around his new enclosure, thought would take a quick pic...

Hows yours getting on Sam, settled in yet ???
