I'd say the Orchid Mantis, Flower mantis and Wandering Violin. I always understood the Orchid and Wandering are pretty difficult to keep but dont take my word for that.

all of the above are the most difficult mantids you can get. i would go with something a bit easier first and then progress from there. if you jump into the difficult ones first you'll just end up with a dead mantid. plus theyre pretty small.
giant asians and marbled mantids are good starters and are lovely in their own way.
or peacock mantids have a lovely threat display. i'd reseach different types first.

IMO the prettiest mantids are the biggest green ones!

Hierodula membranacea!

heres a few latin names so you can google them;

Pseudempusa pinnpavonis (they have a lovely threat display and are easy to keep)

Pnigomantis medioconstricta (a personal favourite of mine, not too dull and very easy in my experience.)

Hierodula membranacea (one of the best starter mantids and a nice green colour)

hope this helps.

Pseudocreobotra Ocellata (Spiny Flower mantis) are an easy species to keep and are very pretty.

They don't bite. Would you bite something that's a million times bigger than you? Hahahaha.
Even if they do bite, it wouldn't hurt.
