Default Athena is now laying her sac apparently woop woop!

Hy..
To my delgith and suprise today, my Pampho SE II seems to have made the beginnings of a sac, we have a hammock style, too small to molt mat being laid in the enterance tunnel before her chamber.
Will have to wait to confirm 100% but i cant think what else it would be

She ate her BF..but this would make up for it a million times.
They were definately the same species. i had plans not to breed her again because i couldnt guarantee the new male would definately be the same species..
Problem solved hopefully.
I think its way too soon for a molt so fingers crossed again
Would make my year to have two sacs.
maybe my T apophysis is gonna be next then!! lol doubt it

Quick update,
shes still dressing her sac mat, shes webbed up loads, then folded the inner wall (bare in mind shes in middle of enterance tunnel) over once, mixing in urticating hair.
no eggs yet, bums looking nice thouhg...
still; just hope its not just a molt, lol
would be such an anti-climax... + just confusing after such behaviour

Sorry for sounding a bit dumb but are these the ones with the lovely purple colouring to them? If they are these are lovely looking and i wouldnt mind one in my collection

Fingers crossed for you anyway.

I know nowt about breeding T's so is it common for the male to get chewed after the business is done? I've seen it mentioned a few times on various documentaries but not sure if its common practice for all spids.

Glad you liked her, they are fantastic.. very confident, but clumbsy
sometimes i disturb Athena simply by walking through the door, and she bolts for cover, only to walk right over her burrow enterance and then she scrambles up the 'cliff' face at the back in panic..its all loose soil so she just gets nowhere. lol
Shes fine as long as shes in her hide though.

Fortunately, shes dug right up to the glass at the back and i can clearly see her and her movements as light penetrates through the silk wall to the surface. interesting stuff.

The male tarantula, if done under supervision
should survive about 80%+ i would guess, depends on the species really.
C crawshayi, its about 90%+ likelyhood the male will get munched.
Some african species only seem to produce a sac when the male is munched.
Most new worlds are pretty uncomplicated when compared.

Mine were quite tolerant of each other, female underground, male above ground. i watched them the first 3hours and saw no interest from either.. I left them whilst i did other stuff in the room. fell asleep, and the following day i found nothing but a pedipalp and not much more.

(The percentage figures are estimates really)
