Our blondi arrived 2 weeks ago now and within the first 12 hours of being in its new enclosure it has burried itself in its pot.
Now, going on past experience with my b.vagans im assuming it is due to moult. Being a blondi im a little concerned as i have read they can sometimes be troublesome moulters!! All im wondering is how long would you guys leave it before checking all is well? Obviously given the possibility of a moult i dont want to go charging in and stress it out too much...but at the same time i want to make sure its alright. Ta, Gary.

Nope, the pot is burried into a slope and the blondi has built a wall completely covering the only entrance!!
Its hard to tell the size, as when we unpacked her we thought we'd leave it be for a while to settle...so it was only for a few minutes we saw it for. Its maybe 3-4 inches?

I have a few that never come out thier hides and baracade themselves in. I gently pull a little of the substrate away from the hide with long tweezers, just enought to able to shine a torch beam through. That way I can see if the T is upright or not and see they are ok without any disturbance to it.

My curlyhair tends to do similar things with substrate even when she is not moulting. I do the same as dandydi and just remove a little to see whats going on...

Maybe i'll give it a few more days and then consider making a tiny hole in the corner of the wall if there is still no sign.
Has anyone had their spider do this for long periods of time?

yup, often.
i sometimes find they just do it. Most Ts that occupy a burrow in the wild will re-make their hide 'door' every morning after a night of hunting. sometimes they simply dont need to eat so they dont pop out for a few days, othertimes its likely a molt. Also Females do it when they are gravid, and preparing to lay a sac. many reasons, im sure theres equally many i havent mentioned

It's probably nothing (well fingers crossed anyway) but knowing the problems blondis can have when moulting im a little more worried.
Well ill keep you all updated anyway.

Theyr not bad really, iv not experienced a bad molt in my care other than for sub-4inch.
Once its lost the pink feet i presume the exoskeletal structure changes too. they are much hardier from this point. Its reputed to be a number of reasons that can cause a bad molt with Theraphosa sp. including vertebrate meat. Just keep it humid and hydrated and fed and you shouldnt have a prob. i havent in over 8 or 9 specimens.
