Default Millipedes

Hi everyone, I have a giant black millipede, Bella, and I absolutely adore her. She's the most amazing insect I've ever seen - I'm new to keeping inverts . I originally had a sexed pair but Lucius died (I still can't figure out why) and although I've been told that her intelligence is so limited that she's not aware of missing him, I still feel like all animals should be kept in pairs if possible. Also, I'd be delighted if some babies came along. Does anyone know of where I can get a large adult male? Bella is about ten inches long so the male should be of that size (no snide jokes, fellas!). I'm in the Manchester area so someplace in the northwest would be ideal, I'm just not sure how to get a male of appropriate size. Cheers.

If you can get to Prestwich hun, Viper and Vines prob can get you one, or have a look on their website, theyre pretty local to you and occasionally get centipedes and millies in.
Hope this helps.

Thanks both! I've checked the SpiderShop, they do have a lot of millipedes for sale - I just want to find one big enough for Bella. She's a hefty girl. I've emailed Vine and Viper as well to see if they can source a large adult male. If anyone out there has a sizeable male they're willing to part with, please let me know...

Could either be Archispirostreptus gigas or Mardonius parilis acuticonus, more than likely A.gigas. Small pet shops usually sell adults so it's worth ringing around your local ones.

Virginia Cheeseman is usually a good place to get millipedes from but she's currently only listing juvenile A gigas but would be worth emailing her to see how big her biggest one(s) are... Virginia Cheeseman

I haven't seen my pink legs for a while now, I hope they're still ok

They've disappeared mate, haven't seen them for a few weeks now. I doubt they've died, would be a huge coincidence for them to go at the same time and all my other millipedes seem fine so can't see a reason why they would have. It is strange, they were out and about all the time before disappearing. I'm hoping they're reappear having moulted.
