Default Brachypelma vagans is going bald!

Hey!

My little spider seems to have a balding area on his rump end! I've heard this can occur due to excessive flicking of hairs. However, he is very shy and I give him alot of peace & quiet.

Any ideas?

Ah I see.

Yesterday, he was hairy, and today he looks more like Richard O'Brien. I did notice some serious bobbing around in his hide though!

Could also be pre moult. They loose a lot of hairs on there rump before they moult.

I got my tiny GBB sling out today for a photoshoot (hehe) and he recently moulted and has a bald bum. He never flicks and is left well alone.

Look at the bald areas colour. If it is an orangy colour it is a way from moulting yet it darkens to a very dark grey the nearer o moulting it gets.At least when spiders moult they get their hair back! unlike some of us.
