Default Much Under Rated...

are the tiger beetle genus.

I have three large one's.

They don't take much looking after.

They are almost as fast as a camel spider.

Their jaws are equal that of a camel spider, and while you can pick the beetles up, best not get yer fingers in those jaws.

For their species, the ones I have are quite large.

I have two that are domino effect, and another that is jet black.

These guys are always darting around, as they would in their normal habitat, searching for live foods. You should seem them eat a cricket. Puts a T to shame!

My all black one is the most ferocious.

When a cricket goes in it goes insane, chasing out down, like a tiger would, hence the monicker, I suppose..?

They are not seen for sale that often, tbh, and mine are about 2.5 inches long, maybe a little more than that...

I agree, I bought a pair of these from a classified ad on the arachnophiles forum, and can't understand why they aren't more popular.

They are active, good looking and god help any cricket that I pick to go in the tank, their jaws are vicious and regularly cut the crickets in half with them still being alive.

Here are some pictures, not of my specific ones, but the same kind

I am trying to breed them but have very little information on them, I can't find anything on the 'net about them so am just going on what I was told by the seller.

This is a photo of one of mine. The late 'Five Legs'. He was tapped in the head, a total nutter. Still dont know what type of Tigers they were but they were awesome just the same. I'd love some more.

Yup, and on top of all of that they can live for up to four years.

I used to have a pair of Mantichora tiger beetles a few years ago. They where fantastic to watch, always active hunting or digging or moving things about. I have searched for more ever since.
I saw them mating several times but no luck with young.

They are v hardy as well, mate.

The three I have don't need much fussing, just a tank, a bit of substrate, a hide, and that is it.

No need to mess around with temps and humidity really.

I fed my three last night, and if anything I would say their jaws are more powerful than those of the camel spiders that I have, or at least the equal to.
