I love the legs, the colour is fantastic, almost glowing like the moon
You've got the soft grey mixed with streaks of jet black, and they make the spider look dainty and kind!

well anyway some how some time ago I found a fear of spiders, havent a clue where it came from.

but since going to the rep shop and so many times be looking at a snake or lizard and then u see it out of the corner of your eye a huge spider in the viv next door (and they always move them around... so you never know where they are)

I am now quite facinated by them, they still freak me out a bit, but I am leaning towards wanting my first T.

Only problem is I am still scared and if I just went out and got one I would spend all of my time worrying it had escaped and feeling like something is crawling on me..

so after the long lecture the question is can you guys help me get over my fear? what can i do, I try and watch and look at the spiders as much as possble in the rep shop, but I still strugle to get too close to them
Quite the predicament you got there.

When I got my first T I was terrified of them, couldn't open the lid and anything. My first T was a G.rosea, she's my special girl and have never regretted buying her. She feeds well for a rosea and lets me handle her
For a first tarantula, you want something non-aggressive and pretty.
I'd go for a new world (come from america), something like a B.smithi, G.rosea or an Avicularia species if you fancie an arboreal.
When buying your first T, make sure the actual spider your getting is calm and friendly. Don't just go on the fact that people have said 'Grammostola roseas are great, they're hardly ever nasty!', and buy the spider without checking it first
I'd also suggest buying a young female, you'll get easily attached to them and I was heartbroken when I sexed my first T and discovered it was a male, luckily, I hadn't sexed it right, and she is deffinatly female!!

Once you've bought one, given it a name and watched it wander about in it's tank for a while you'll get over your fear and slowly become more confident around spiders
Hope this was helpful!

Tarantula's are so cute! I'm terrified of tiny spiders tho, it's weird. I hope you get over your fears. The best thing would be to hold one, and just hope he doesn't freak out on you haha, they really arn't that bad !

I still shake a bit when i open a tank but it is different when u have a creature depends on you. Sort of makes you forget your fear. I can honestly say i love my little T and i never ever thought i could ever say that.

I recommend the smithi as they look less scarey and they are pretty so sort of takes your mind off it.

I have already started looking at my next spidey which should be fun.

I hope it works as well for you as it has done for me. I am so pleased i made this leap eventhough it consisted of sleepless nights and took me a while to be able to move the tank into my room. Now i cant imagine life without one.

Good luck. Feel free to pm if you ever need advice over how i did it.
smithi are the ones I have seen and not been too bothered by, may have to have a good look at one in the flesh
