I used to be absolutely terrified by house spiders, now having helped to look after my brothers 3 tarantulas and my own two I still am.
Despite that his B. Albopilosum encouraged me to get a G. Rosea sling and Avic. Versicolor sling, my advice would be to start off with a sling so that you get used to them from a smaller size, when they are scary.
Even so, if I move my bin and a spider runs out from underneath it I still squeal like a girl. Having said that I am better with Tarantulas, when my brother's B. Vagans climbed over the edge of its box to make a break for it, both my brother and Mother screamed and backed off, it was the guy who was the most scared of spiders in our house (me) who pushed it back in.
My advice is to get one, it might not cure you, but they do make fascinating pets.
