Default Fear of spiders

I have been keeping reps for quite a while, but for as long as I can remeber I have had a fear of spiders (well not strictly true, I remeber being about 5 and watching home alone with my nan and when they showed the spider she said 'your auntie would have a fit if she was here' and I remeber thinking 'why? whats wrong with spiders?')

well anyway some how some time ago I found a fear of spiders, havent a clue where it came from.

but since going to the rep shop and so many times be looking at a snake or lizard and then u see it out of the corner of your eye a huge spider in the viv next door (and they always move them around... so you never know where they are)

I am now quite facinated by them, they still freak me out a bit, but I am leaning towards wanting my first T.

Only problem is I am still scared and if I just went out and got one I would spend all of my time worrying it had escaped and feeling like something is crawling on me..

so after the long lecture the question is can you guys help me get over my fear? what can i do, I try and watch and look at the spiders as much as possble in the rep shop, but I still strugle to get too close to them

I bought my 1st T as I was petrified of spids! I love them now and they are so addictive! I have 12, more on the way too! You really do get used to them and won't be freaked out as you can see they can't escape

I am still scared of non t spids though

hmm, to be honest I dont really like the look of rosy's, they are just a bit ragedy looking if you get what I mean.

hmm suppose I should just get down the rep shop and have a look at what they have, I know that NRC like thier T's and probably have a huge collection for me to look at, will see if I can have a look through and find one I 'like' the look of and feel comfortable with.

one thing I dont really understand is what does it matter how docile they are if you are not going to handle them anyway, is there aything I should aviod and if so why?

now Im talkig like I am gonna go buy one lol, Im still far from that yet.

its funny, but so many people have my attitude towards spider towards snakes and I struggle to understand it, oh well just the way things go lol.

just googled them, first thought was 'eww a spider' but I do kinda like them, I know it probably sounds silly, but I think its thin leggs that I dont like, have seen some pics with thick leggs or at least looks it, and I dont have such a problem with them.

To be honest. I am the most petrified person in the world when it comes to spiders. I recently got myself a B. Vagans and it has done wonders for me!

I can now go into the bathroom and catch the spiders i was once far too scared of. I would definately suggest getting a T, 100% They are fascinating too!

Hey i know where you are coming from.
I was awful 2 weeks ago before i got my juvi Red Knee. For the 1st week i sat her tank next to my pc so i could watch her every move and get used 2 it. It took me 3 hrs to open the package when she arrived lol i was so scared. I have friends who keep T's so they have helped me also.
2 weeks later i am able to feed her and put my hand in the tank to change the water etc. I can also watch her for hours. I even managed to catch a housespider and put it outside the other day.
I strongly recommend doing this but you have got to consider the care required.

wow wow wow, lets slow things down a bit, holding a T is waaaaaaaay off in the future for me lol I am still strugling to look at them.

I am starting to think that the only way I am going to get over my fear is to just take the plunge and get one, to be honest I dont know how keen rosie will be, she takes the mickey out of me when it comes to house spiders, but she is probably about as bad as me when it comes to T's
