Default Huntsman Spider

Does anyone keep these monsters?

I got a rescue in this morning that had hitched a lift from the Virgin Islands and freaked a woman out when it jumped outa her suitcase lol.

They are very very very fast and will bite if you try to pick them up. quite nice apart from that though.

Lee from the spidershop is probably a good bet to answer your questions.

I think he mistakenly thought I study huntsmen and not harvestmen so he once gave me some advice on keeping huntsmen (in a thread about harvestmen, if that makes sense).

It's not that far back actually, i'll see if I can find it.

Here's what lee said, its more on handling them:

as soon as you open the lid. We use the "Juvenile Jars" for small huntsmans.
As well as drilling small air holes we also create a larger hole which we
use a bit of blue tack or tissue to bung up, this is used for feeding and
watering the huntmans with out opening the lid. For watering you can use a
syringe or dripper bottle though make sure you have deep substrate to hold
the water. For feeding we use a salt shaker (like the ones they have in
cafe's with a single hold) which we fill with micro crickets and just pour
them in. The salt shaker method is also ideal for feeding lots of slings
quickly. Another good method for using small crickets is to use a small
brush with a wide head to swip them into pots or down holes.

When rehousing and unpacking huntsmans if you do it in your bath it gives
you a little more time to react should they make a run for it. If your
reflexes are not quick enough I would even go one stage further and fill the
bath with water so you can fish them out when they jump out the pot.
I am not sure about species specifics, i'd perhaps try Lee personally, or try one of the US or Austrailian forums.
