I'll give that method a go then, didn't realise they would take more than one at a time so always worried that before it had chance to to finish one and chase another the little 's would have burried away!!

4 is low lol, many Ts can take 4 at a time, lol.

infact, T blondi will masticate the captured prey pretty rapidly, within seconds its a bolus of organic matter. My blondi at 6inch one drunken night took 15, so many it couldnt grasp anymore but she still tried over and over. essentially they will eat as many as you chuck at them (depending on the species).
fast or famin style of natural life for them, so theyv evolved to be ambush hunters and wait long periods of times between feeds but react rapidly to the fortunes of a feed, they will eat what they can, when they can, fattening up for the harsh times.
Many different familys of spiders also have methods to exploit multiple food items, orb weavers and other aranae will bite the second fooditem and wrap it in silk, the spider will return and eat the first item before eating the second kill at its will.

A dormant tarantula has a lower metabolism than a water melon,

Myself and Gaz got lucky with ours, it's not often you see them for sale as you're finding out. In fact the price shot up shortly after we bought ours.
