This is my new Brachypelma smithi. she is still only very small, I just got her today an she hasnt moved much but there this plant in the corner of the tank an she keeps hiding among the leaves, can never find her

since I took them pics Lorraine has shed. I only got her last saturday an thought she weren't eating cause she'd just been moved. does anyone know how long these species live for?? They told me at the pet store it was a female but when she shed I checked the skin an it looks more likely to be a male however because of the small size it was hard to tell...

males tend to live to about 2 years at the most,

2 years I thought they lived longer than that...

Yea, you may get up to a couple of years out of a mature male smithi, altho I have heard more from some people. Females, 20 years +

no I meant from spiderling to dieing how long do they last...sorry lol. my b. smithi is nowhere near mature yet

Around 5 years for a male to mature, then live a couple of years or so. 7 years for a female to mature

Approx obviously

Hope it is a female for you mate
