Default chile rose spiderling

i got my first spider a couple of weeks ago , a chile rose spiderling .

he was out and about for the first week i got him and ate a couple of locust hatclings. he then started to burrow and has now covered his burrow over .
from what ive read , i reckon he is molting and not to disturb him .

but how long should this take and how can i be sure hes ok ?

whats the longest you have went without seeing yours ?

Most spiderlings burrow, in which case food will just disappear. Leave him to it He'll be fine Just make sure if u offer food and its not taken, that you remove it.

One of mine recently took 5 weeks from the time it blocked over its pot to the time it emerged and started eating again...i know others have waited up to 2 months and im guessing longer!!

Not really sure on timescales mind and whether it would differ with a sling. I hate it mind, i get so worried

Just do as Becky said, pop in some food and if it doesnt get eaten remove it. I am going to get squat maggots this week for my slings as im paranoid a cricket will eat a sling in moult (which can happen).

Bit of a hijack but where can i get these from? Is it just a fishing tackle shop??

Anyway, back on track, you can just use a bit of commen scense with feeding as well...if it has completely blocked itself in then its highly likely its going to moult (from my experience) so i dont even bother to offer food, as there is no way for the cricket to get in and no way for the spider to get out.

However, T's will burrow away so if the entrance is still open then all is as it should be.

ive never bought maggots but im sure tackle shops sell them .

there was a burrow made in the first week , but now it is completely covered . so i thought it would be better not to offer food till it has re emerged . was just trying to find out how long that might take .

looks like i might need to leave it in peace for some time . cheers

I'd offer a cricket, the size of its abdomen, once or twice a week and remove after a day. The tarantula is most vulnerable during moult and doesn't welcome disturbance from either you or food items, I've had tarantula kill food items and not eat them prior to moults.
Tarantula, and especially chili rose, are adept at doing without food for long periods, although its admittedly a sling it should be fine. A little water dish or slight moistening of the substrate might help the moult.

Don't use cotton wool... Just mist the sides of the pot for moisture.

LOL cotton wool, I'm sure there's no cotton wool, sponges or bug beads in the wild, always amuses me this one, despite the fact so many shops use them.
They become breeding grounds for bacteria, the one thing you don't want in your enclosures during vulnerable times!
If you have a pipette, you can drop small amounts of water onto the substrate or sides. Remember, small amounts, not ocean waves
