i have a slight phobia of spiders, but a little while ago i found a spider in a cricket box and kept it, and unfortunately it has sparked an interest. so i was thinking about getting another spider, but im not sure where to start lookin into it. cold blooded has pink toe's which i usually watch walking round, but appart from that im not sure. i dont want anythin too big, too hard to keep or are aggresive. any sugestions on what to look into?

However slings mortality rate are higher and can die even if seem healthy and the best condition. IMO you should get a large juvenile maybe a sub adult to start on

Many good beginner species. My first was a Grammostola aureostriata juvenile. I got her at about 2". She's been perfect. Eats loads! Always active. gorgeous to look at, docile enough to handle and never kicks hairs.
Here's a pic of her when i first got her : ![]() And here is a pic of her now... about 7 months on. ![]() ![]() And nice and docile too ![]() ![]() Other good beginner species are: Grammostola rosea - the RCF form and the normal form. Both nice (although mines a nasty bag! lol) Brachypelma species - emilia, bohemi, smithi, albopilosum - pretty but prone to hair flicking. And slow growing. |
