best supposed beginner species are curly haired, chillie rose, pink toe and red knee. Be aware that pink toes are considered docile but do jump. Most go wit the chilli rose but all of the above species are generally docile, i say GENERALLY!! not all of them are docile, you can get the odd one which are very aggressive, so if you plan on holding it when you get it, ask to see it held by someone before you buy it etc.

Depending on the size, adults you can keep in a medium faunarium or and exo-terra terranium if ya dont mind payin a bit extra, 30x30x30 will be suffice. Juvies, a small faunarium would be ok and slings a small tub of some sort, ie cricket tub etc would be ok. For really small slings a camera film tub will be ok. I dont heat any of my spids, all are kept a room temp, in winter if it is sepherly cold i put a heat mat close to the vivs untill it reaches about room temp (30 odd degrees, 33 i think!!) Each spider needs slighly different environments depending on its type, ie, burrowing, arboreal etc. Pink toes need more humidity than the rest of the above. For substrate you can use peat moss or vermiculite etc, add a few hides, leaves and water bowl etc.

Id look at online shops first such as Tarantulabarn Home Page and TheSpiderShop:- - Suppliers of Arachnids and other quality Invertebrates first to get an idea of the spid you want and the rough costs, then either order one online or get it from a local rep shop, added advantage of rep shop is you get to see/hold it before ya buy it, downside is it generally costs more.

Just do plently of research on the spid you decide to get before you get it, hope this helps

See this link for juvenile tarantulas for sale and i would suggest a curly hair or mexican redknee both of which are very docile.

Juveniles - TarantulaShop.co.uk (Powered by CubeCart)

You will need a small plastic tank of about 12 inches long by 8 inches wide with coconut coir as a substrate and a small hide.

Lucky Reptile Humus Brick - Evolution Reptiles

Lee's Herp Haven - Evolution Reptiles

If your reptile room is more than 70f and less than 85f you will find you need no extra heat source.

The way I got over my fear was for a mate, who had hundreds of the things, to take it out and place it on my hand while my hand was resting on something, ie a table. It stops you from pulling your hand away at the last momment and letting the spider drop. You've just got to bite the bullet, I bet once you do you'll be really glad and wont turn back.
