Default Avics & Exo Terra viv

I intend moving my 2 avics into a 30x30x45 exo terra viv and my question is will it be ok to just leave in the polystyrene background
with a few fake plants attached or should i take the background out and just use a large piece of cork bark instead.

I am not bothered about a realistic look just something suitable for avics.

Cheers

We will be removing the backing from ours as i hate the fact that crix get trapped down the back but i guess its personal preference?

Whatever is in there the crix will find a place to hide in lol

The BG that it comes with is safe and effective...

I've got my M/F avic avic in same size viv too,but I've cut the background diagonally and put a piece onto one of the sides aswell. It gives the crickets easier access to get out so they dont die in behind it and create a nice smell.
A Few fake plants and a couple small branches and a background pic all add to the eye pleasing effect , The tarantulas are probably not bothered either way though to be honest...

I personally dont like exo terra's for spiders that require humidity. They dont hold humidity well at all. I've got my juvie versi in one temporarily and have had to tape some of the mesh, as it dries out too quickly and makes it unsuitable for the avic.

Ste.. define hand feeding T's please?

Handing the food to them of the end off some really long tweezers. They run over take the food an run off, i prefer to do it this way as i know that theyve eaten the food. Saves me huntin around the viv lookin for remains the next day.

And what if they dont take it? Seems a bit weird if you ask me......
I chuck a cricket in, watch for a minute or so, if the spider shows no interest then take it out and try in a few days. I dont leave crickets in over night.
What about if you had a burrowing spider? Dig it up to "hand feed" it?

I Understand exactly what your saying , I do however spray almost every day and have a fair amount of coco fibre in the bottom with a topping of bark chips and some sphagnum moss also ..I never let it dry out though as I also have a few live plants in too which i believe also adds to the humidity...

If they dont take its cos they dont want it. Dont own any burrowing spiecies. May seem wierd to you but its a method that works for me and so i use it, im not enforcing my methods on you and therefore would appreciate it if you did not try to enforce yours on me. Not everybody does things the same way, theres no official way to feed an animal, if my t's and i are happy with a particular method then i see no problem.
