Default How am I doing

I got my first tarantula on Friday, a Grammostola actaeon. I'd say it was approximately 2 inches long including legs. I've got it in one of these:

Juvenile Tarantula Starter Kit Suppliers of Arachnids and other quality Invertebrates

I made the substrate moist (not wet) and put in about 1 and a half inches deep. The heatmat is on the back and starts around an inch above the substrate. The temperature is around 77 and the humidity is around 70%.

Any pointers on things I may have missed out? I've been told its moulting so how long should I wait before feeding and would one cricket twice a week be a suitable feeding schedule?

First of all nice species!

I keep all of my Grammostola species at room temperature. They don't need it warm or humid. Dry the substrate out and just keep an open water dish filled up, this supplies enough humidity.
A good indication for size of container etc is 4x the spiderlings leg span. The tank you're keeping it in now will be sufficient probably for the upcoming moult, then you will probably have to rehouse.
Here's a pic of my Grammostola rosea adult female's setup. She's a 4" leg span.

She is in a flat faunarium. Subby, hide, open water dish

Really? The one thing I really hate about tarantulas over snakes is there doesn't seem to be one accepted source , everyone says different things.

What humidity and temperature would you say to use then (because room temperature/humidity varies a lot)?

I keep at room temp in the summer and use a small heat mat in the winter, just spray the tub with a light mist once a week.

I have one of those in my collection, just keep it at room temp (as long as its a good room temp) at the min and add a heat sause in the winter. They like it humid but they dont like wet soil so spray the sides of the tank.
